Arthritis is a general term for more than 100 different types of arthritis and related conditions, which include joint pain, inflammation and cartilage and degeneration.
There are two main types of arthritis: rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. Both affect the joints, causing pain and swelling, and limit movement.
Cannabis has been shown to alleviate these symptoms with its powerful anti-inflammatory properties. In fact, one of the earliest records of medical use of cannabis, a Chinese text dating from ca. 2000 BC, notes that cannabis “undoes rheumatism,” suggesting its anti-inflammatory and immune modulating effects were known even then.
